I threw it... (the first time)

It always happens when you expect it at least.
|
After doing a good helicopter I continued with wingovers and planed to land.
Then it happened...
At the bottom of the last turn my right riser was suddenly gone!
I immediately threw the rescue (about 50 meters altitude) and it fortunately opened fast.
After flying about 2-3 seconds with the rescue I hit the ground.
The impact wasn't very gentle, I could hardly breath. To my surprise I'm not seriously injured (just sprained neck, which lasts for some days as the medic said).
Then I wanted to know why the riser was gone. At first I thought the lines or the riser itself was broken. But it isn't like that. The right carabiner got a serious fault in the material!
When you use it, it looks and sounds normal - just as it should.
But it doesn't close completely. We guess the risers "pushed away" the arm of the carabiner, which was opened then.
Thanks to all the people who immediately came to help me!

"Respect Rules - No Acro" these four words are well known as the principles of meduno. as you know we are 'as good as gold' so we respected this rule and did NOT fly acro there. but we had some wonderful soaring sessions as you can see in our pictures (taken by René and the Mexican) and in our little meduno clip (filmed by René, Matze and the Mexican) - thank you guys.

morpheus invasion complete.
|
finally alex a.k.a "alxGZZR" and marvin a.k.a "MRVN" got their new insane wings. they already had the chance to fly a bit XC and could made enough hight to do the 1st wing_overs and loops with their new morpheusen.

today the petlu_team said good bye to this winter season having an incredible soaring and thermal day at the Unterberghorn. Benny and Marvin found a nice cornice close to the peak where they could manage to land. the nice soaring and thermal conditions allowed us to do a lot of nice (and bad) helicos and mistyFlips. fortunatly we found a photographer who captured these wonderful moments on a camera and made some sweet shots. it was just such a fu**!n nice day! alex, you flew with us in our hearts  (he had to stay at home doing some school stuff).

It's very sad but true. Last friday, the 7th March 2008, the very well known paragliding (XC / Akro) and speedflying pilot Mathias Roten lost his life by a speedflying accident. Although we didnt really knew him we always only heard the best things about him, an open-minded young and successfull man in the paragliding szene. But who could explain that better as those who really knew him. More on JustACRO.

finally we could make it real. the petluAKROcrew ordered two new of the insane morpheus from u-turn. pretty soon alex and marvin will receive their new gliders so the whole team will be on a morpheus. with the friendly support of the SGS (süddeutsche gleitschirmschule) and U-TURN PARAGLIDERS we could realize that everyone of the petluAKROcrew is finally on real acro glider, the morpheus.

hey people!
the year's going by now!!! We progressed...we learned how to tumble, the heli, did our first d-bag and learned many other things bout flying! I can say it was one of the best of those 18! Flying, especially with friends is like one of the greatest things on earth!
We like to thank all those people who supported us in what we are doing! Those people who were spending a lot of time to help us with this site, those people who took us to the mountains and those who gave us the possibility to do save training! Those who gave us work or financial support and those who were flying and having fun with us! Over all our parents!
